Greetings from Amazon Web Services,
Please take the time to read this message -- it contains important information about your Amazon Web Services account.
At Amazon Web Services , we routinely perform reviews of orders and customer accounts to protect our customers. After careful review of your account, we believe it may have been accessed and used by a third-party without your permission. Please review your AWS account for unauthorized activity per the directions below. It seems that someone obtained your personal account and/or financial information elsewhere, and used it to access your Amazon Web Services account.
If the activity was not authorized, your account will remain open for Five (5) days in order that you may secure your account. To regain access to your account, first, you will need to reset your password when you return to our site. Just click “Your Account” at the top of our Home page and select “Forgot your Password?” Enter your email address as prompted, and once completed, we'll send you an e-mail containing a personalized link. Click the link from the e-mail and follow the directions provided. Your new password will be effective immediately. If there is no unauthorized activity please reply as such and there are no additional actions needed.
In addition to resetting your password, we require that you log into your AWS Management Console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/, check if all usage is authorized, and delete all unauthorized resources. Please pay special attention to the running EC2 instances, EC2 Spot Bids, IAM users, and access keys (please check all regions - to switch between regions use the drop-down in the top-right corner of the management console screen). Please utilize the 'Support' tab in the upper right corner if you have additional questions.
(Full instructions are at the end of the email.)
***ACTION REQUIRED- PLEASE ALERT US ONCE YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO COMPLETE THESE STEPS. ***
To protect you from unauthorized usage and charges, failure to reply or follow these steps within the requested time period may result in the suspension of your account, and disruption of AWS service.
It is important to know that Amazon Web Services accounts can only be accessed by those who know personal, specific information about you and your account -- such as your email address, Amazon.com password, credit card information, and other details. It appears someone obtained some of your personal account and/or financial information elsewhere and used it on Amazon.com to access your account.
Although it appears someone did access your Amazon Web Services account, they would not have been able to view your full credit card numbers as they are never displayed on our site. However, it is possible
your credit card numbers may have been compromised at the time your other personal information was obtained. Therefore, we suggest you carefully review recent credit card statements to check for any unusual activity or unauthorized charges.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience, and feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.
To check your EC2 usage, please go to https://console.aws.amazon.com/ec2 and click on "Running Instances" (under "My Resources")
You can also iew and terminate Amazon EC2 Spot Bids using the AWS Management Console. There are currently 9 regions where you might have active Spot Bids, please be sure to review each region. If there are any pending bids, we will not be able to reinstate your account.
